COMMUNICATIONS, focused on offering VoIP telephony services through virtual PBX and Virtual call center solutions, and which currently has more than 2.9 thousand extensions installed.

DATA CENTER, which offers solutions for cloud computing, dedicated servers and server vaults, and specialized services outsourcing. The division already has more than 3,500 customers, including companies of all sizes;

Timeline

 

1997

The acquisition of a server in California marked the first step in Locaweb’s emergence. At that time, the project consisted of a B2B portal for the textile industry Intermoda. Four months later, the idea proved to be much too innovative for the Internet reality in Brazil. The solution found for minimizing the maintenance costs of this server was to rent disk space and provide a connection for companies interested in having an online presence.


1998

Foundation of LocaWeb, the first 100% Brazilian company dedicated to meeting the needs of those interested in creating websites.


1999

One year later, the server in California became insufficient and the company needed to acquire new servers, this time positioned in Campinas, Brazil. This structure reached its limit and needed to be substituted in less than a year for another one ten times bigger.


2000

The “bursting of the bubble,” a period that generated major instability in the sector. However, it did not negatively affect the upward growth of Locaweb. The company also took advantages of this moment to undertake a major phase of internal organization and consolidation, preparing it for the following phase - Professional Internet.


2002

The foundation of LocaWeb iDC, a business division of LocaWeb designed to fill in a market gap, one that lacked high quality Internet Data Center services at an accessible cost.


2005

Creation of LocaWeb Telecom, the group's business division, to meet the data and voice communication needs of small, medium and large companies at very attractive costs.


2008

In September, the company undertook the launch of the Cloud Computing platform that in just one year reached more than 2 thousand customers. Cloud computing intelligently reduced Data Center power consumption, helping to preserve the environment.


2009

Opening of the company’s 2nd Data Center, designed from the bottom up using Green IT practices, from the space usage concept  to the selection of equipment, in order to preserve the environment and to meet the stringent international standards of operations and safety.

With 12 years of experience, Locaweb the leader in web hosting in Latin America and offers the most complete business technology solutions in Brazil.

It has over 500 employees, a base more than 200,000 clients and 500,000 hosted domains, as well as partnerships with over 14,000 website developers.
